Four Seasons Sunrooms and Windows Makes its Third Contribution to ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Four Seasons Sunrooms and Windows, North America’s premier sunroom, conservatory and window manufacturer, are delighted to be a third-time contributor to the enormously popular reality television series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on ABC-TV.

The episode is due to be broadcast at 7:00pm Central on Friday, November 18th, 2011.

ABC’s Emmy award-winning show has built its reputation on helping local heroes, community leaders and inspirational families, paying tribute to the work they do for others or they way in which they strive to overcome adversity.

This show celebrates the contribution made by Delaware’s “Soup Lady’, otherwise known as Dale Dunning. For 12 years, Dale has fed the hungry and helped the needy of Sussex County from her tan RV, earning huge praise and national attention.

But, in November viewers of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition can share in Dale’s excitement as she is led into the church hall where she feeds her flock several times a week, to find her brand new kitchen!

JOPLIN MISSOURI SCHOOLS STILL NEED OUR HELP!

We all remember the horrible tornado that destroyed much of the town of Joplin, Missouri.  Joplin is still rebuilding, and the ones that need help the most returning to ‘normal’ are the children.  Some students at a local school asked Four Seasons to help them host a fund raiser for a Joplin School.  St. Mary’s School was completely destroyed.  The 8th graders from one of our hometown schools want to raise money so that St. Mary’s can purchase PE equipment.   Giving the children a chance to return to normal sounded like a great cause to us!

Here’s the Fundraising 411:
1154 LILL is the Original Custom Handbag company  (Based in Chicago, they also have a boutique in Boston).   Their corporate office has very generously offered to donate a substantial portion of the proceeds from a ‘purse making’ party that is taking place in our showroom Thursday November 3rd.   The ladies at Four Seasons have declared that the purses are fabulous.   Choose the style you love, and then add your choice of fabric and lining.  They even make custom iPad cases and Christmas stockings!!

Helping Homeowners Beat the Heat

The midwest is experiencing the worst heat wave in years… we are being tormented by 100 plus degree temperature, and oppressive humidity!

Fighting the heat often means increased energy costs. According to the U.S. Department of energy, in a typical household, about 43 percent of the utility bill goes to cooling and heating the house.

There are many ways to save on energy, but not scrimp on comfort.

Homeowners cut energy costs by 1 percent for each degree warmer they keep their homes in the summer. What most organizations recommend is keeping your thermostat set at 78 degrees. If that is too high for you, try using a programmable thermostat, and raise the temperature slightly when you are not going to be home. You can also close the doors and vents of the rooms that aren’t occupied to conserve energy. If you would still like your home cooler, a ceiling fan is might be the way to go instead of pumping air conditioning. Ceiling fans can lower the temperature by as much as 10%, and definitely use less electricity than your air conditioner.

Try to cut down on activities that increase the heat! Chores that use hot water, or running the clothes drier will definitely raise the temperature in the house, so try to do these in the cooler morning hours. Switch the lights off when possible, and invest in CFL bulbs, which use less energy, last longer and generate less heat than incandescent light bulbs.

Saving energy in the summer means keeping the air out. To ensure as little air is getting in your home as possible, you should check the seals on windows and doors. Additionally, using blinds or shades on windows can be a good way to keep heat out of the house.
